People always say "it's scary to try new things." Well, I wish they'd say something more like "it's scary to push the things that you said you were going to do on the back burner because everything piled on the stuff that matters to you, and accidentally then also got put on the backburner. And by accidental, I mean totally on purpose because they were the things that you were most terrified to continue doing." For me, that's live streaming. I know it has to be done, I know the benefits, I know how great it feels to speak to my amazing group of followers, and I know that it genuinely is something I love doing. But that first moment right before I turn on the camera again after a bit of time away, I AM SWEATING.
If you're a business owner in the age of social media, it can feel hard to put yourself out there again, and again, and again, and once you think you've done it enough times, yes friends, you do it AGAIN! You may feel like you've got nothing meaningful to say or worse, that no one is listening.
Let me let you in on a little secret... they are listening. Change through engagement and trust don't happen overnight. You chip away at it, piece by piece. Look at your audience and your streaming like this: as you get more comfortable, your viewers will start developing their sense of trust and friendship with you. You've got to give and give to honor and receive their trust.
So don't give up - push onwards and upwards. And when you see a friend or a fellow professional putting themselves out there to the internet world, pop on and say hello. Encourage one another. Because if we all support one another, there's nothing we can't achieve.
